It contains elements of folk rock, arena rock and glam rock.Lyrically, the song is an "empowerment anthem" in which Perry stands up for herself, having "discovered the power within herself". In the chorus, she sings lyrics such as "I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter / Dancing through the fire, ’cause I am a champion / And you’re gonna hear me roar / Louder, louder than a lion" over a thumping beat.
